8 agosto alle ore 5.04 · Modificato · UPDATE Aug. 18: This is how #BritishAirways treats musicians: 1. They forced my friend to check her violin. (Their policy doesn't allow instruments over 56 cm/22 in in length on board. Her only choices were to check it, leave it behind despite needing it for practicing + getting routine maintenance in the US, or forfeit a $3,000 plane ticket and perhaps her last chance to visit her very elderly mother.) 2. They smashed it to bits. 3. They are paying her less than 1/4 of the appraised replacement value. Until #BritishAirways changes their policy, it is not safe for musicians to fly BA with their instruments. UPDATE Aug. 14: My friend sent all the requested paperwork + appraisal by email to #BritishAirways 4 days ago (Monday). She has left multiple messages on the direct extension for the customer service representative she talked with last week. No response from either the emailed paperwork or multiple voicemail messages. Please feel free to share far and wide! UPDATE Aug. 8: A representative from #BritishAirways did call my friend yesterday to get the claims process rolling. (A representative at the Denver airport the night of her arrival did start that process, but the representatives she talked to the next couple of days made it sound like they wouldn't do anything for her.) So, it's moving in the right direction. I'll keep updating this post as things develop. Thanks for all the shares! Even if they do the right thing, this airline must change its policy to let small instruments on board! #BritishAirways breaks violins! We had hoped they would do the right thing, but after British Airways agents in Beirut forced my friend to check her violin (to Denver, routed through Paris) and crushed it in the baggage hold, they are being completely unresponsive, saying it was her fault, and refusing to reimburse her, after telling her to get an appraisal for replacement value. Many people carried on bigger bags. There is no excuse for this, British Airways! You have destroyed the means by which she makes her living! - https://www.facebook.com/saraavery/posts/10152200896657447
